Description of resource
The Association of State and Territorial Public Health Nutrition Directors (ASTPHND) developed a training program for the Nutrition Policy and Education Unit of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The training was held in Knasas City, MO and St. Charles, MO in April 2004. The training curriculum was tailored to Missouri's needs.

The training objectives are listed below.
  1. Identify the five steps for developing population-based services.
  2. Describe the four components of a community health assessment.
  3. Review and analyze state-generated community data and use to develop measurable objectives.
  4. Enhance skills in contributing to and participating in community health coalitions and partnerships.
  5. Describe population-based interventions that can improve the health of communities.
  6. Describe evaluation strategies and how to incorporate them into the nutrition intervention.
  7. List potential funding, resources, and partners.

The trainers included Karen Probert with ASTPHND and Mary Ann Klie with MO Department of Health and Senior Services.
