Description of resource
The first part of a two-session training curriculum on community assessment, planning, and evalution.

This session includes an overview of the five-step planning process for developing population-based health services. This training program provides information and skill-building activities on the community assessment process including the collection, review, interpretation and uses of community health data. Prioritizing health problems and writing measurable objectives are also covered.

We recommend that training session participants be part of a 4- to 6-person team. Team members can be from any program including women's health services, infant and child health, Children with Special Health Care Needs, adolescent health, oral health, chronic disease, public health planning, or a public health dietetic internship.

This curriculum was used for a training that was sponsored by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Family Health Branch, Nutrition Section and the State System Development Initiative.
